My reverse indicator lights stopped working. I opened the back panel under the tail wing, and I can see through to my garage floor. I can see the wires, (a brown wire, and a white wire) leading to the back of what looks like a rubber boot over the rear part of the lights. On the outside of the car, there is just the clear glass cover, a chromed ring, and the rubber seal around it.

I have tried rotating the glass, thinking it might unscrew. I dont want to just start prying with a screwdriver!! In the inside, there is a screw poking through, but theres no evidence of a screw from the exterior.

I did not build this car. I bought it from a fellow in Oceanside CA.

My plan is to look for the easy stuff first. I have ruled out bulb issues because 'both' bulbs would not burn out together. I would like to think that a single wire failure wouldn't cause 'both' lights to stop working, but depending if they were wired in series or paralell, it could happen. In any case, my intention is to inspect, and shore up (replace/repair) any crappy wiring, now, while I have it all opened up.

A couple years ago a friend and I totally rewired the entire car, except for the rear section. We found and corrected a lot of bad wiring!!! Now, I guess its time to fix the rear.

Just pry that chrome ring off with a pocket screw driver.
Be careful, if the rubber is old it will tear.

As for the wiring diagram, it could be wired several different ways.
Do you know what wiring harness was used?

I did not use those as backup lights on the coupe, but used the Mini Cooper reverse light. The wiring is pretty simple.
I ran a hot wire to one side of the terminal on the tranny, then a wire from the other terminal to the rear of the car, connecting to one side of the light. Ground the light with the other wire and you should be good.
Here's a link from the FFR FAQ lights section.
