As mentioned in earlier posts, Dave Friedman, is our guest speaker this year. He was the staff photographer for Shelby American from 1962-65. All of those famous black and white photos of the early days of the Cobra, GT-40, Daytona, and GT-350 Mustang were Dave’s work. Dave will not be bringing any items to sell but he will gladly autograph any books or photos you bring with you to the TCC Banquet. There are several really nice books, authored by Dave, availability on Amazon. You can also find item at The Dave Friedman Archive | THE SHELBY YEARS.

Boys and Girls, here is a hotel update for the TCC Spring Meet:

We have sold out of our room block at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Due to the “attrition rate” we had in 2019 (rooms in our block that were canceled after the cutoff date), we were only allowed 280 room nights this year, as compared to 350 in 2019. I was able to get more rooms added to our block about a week ago but those are now sold out as well.

IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOUR ROOM RESERVATION AT THE EMBASSY SUITES FOR ANY REASON, PLEASE CALL KEN WALKER AT 512-557-3694 AS SOON AS YOU KNOW.

There will be a waiting list for our rooms. If your reservation is cancelled and un-used, it will count against us and we will have to pay the Attrition Rate/Penalty per our contract. We do not have additional funds to cover any penalties and it could also affect our contract negotiation abilities for 2021.
The minimal Food and Beverage charge for our banquet on Saturday night this year is $6500. In the past it has been $5k. As of today (02.04.20) we sold enough banquet tickets (136) to cover the contracted minimal dollar amount. In the past the number of tickets sold usually is around 175.
We get the reduced hotel room rate because we also have the banquet. No banquet means a much higher room rates. Our room rate is $159 and as of today online the same room is $210.
There are rooms available at the Holiday Inn Express for $109-119.
Sorry for the long post but I felt I needed let emphasize the importance of our situation with our contracted hotels.
