Does anyone have any experience with the "Water Wetter" type coolant additives? There are several on the market, supposed to lower temps 30 or 40 degrees, which I think would be a good thing.

But do they work? Any downsides?

Thanks, Al

Al - I've been using Water Wetter in my '70 Torino GT for the last 2 years. It's got a 351 Cleveland and these tend to run hot. With a 180 t-stat, I can sit in traffic on 90 degree days and have no worries. W/O the Water Wetter, I'd be climbing towards 200. It's good stuff, maybe not 30-40 degrees good, but easily 15-20 degrees.

Water Wetter's effectiveness depends upon the proportion of antifreeze in the system. I think at 50% it's about 18 degrees improvement and at 25% it's about 25 degrees. There's a chart on the back of the bottle. I used 1 bottle of Water Wetter and 20% antifreeze (just for the corrosion protection). I got 50 degrees of improvement, but I also spent $$$$$ for a Griifin radiator and a gargantuan fan.

Happy motoring
