I am using a non-TFI coil for my kit car (efi 347 w/ A3M PCM), the MSD high-vibration unit. My plan was to cut the TFI connector off and wire the two wires directly to the coil. Do I need a resistor in-line for this setup? Is there anything that will prevent this from working properly?

Hi Dave,
I seem to remember there being a problem switching coil types like that.If there is a resistor in one it is to limit the current flow and protect the ignition module.

I would recommend using the correct coil for your ignition system MSD likely does make one. Check the MSD web site or a summit Catalog.

The correct coil probably costs less than getting towed home.

unnfortunately the correct coil does not come in a high-vibration model and the coil is mounted directly to the head.
