Anyone have any local powdercoating places that can do a FFR frame? Trying to decide if i should have FFR do it or someone else. I just called one place in lawrence but his oven can only handle 9.5' diagonal. Any ideas on prices?

Stang,

Try Applied Plastics in Norwell MA (781)762-1881. They do Teflon application for my work, but I know they also do powder coating. I don't know their pricing, but at least they are an option.

I am fairly certain that Applied Plastics' oven is not big enough for a whole frame but you can call and ask. In my former job we had lots of work done by them and I am pretty sure they had size restrictions.

Powdercoating Solutions in Greenland New Hampshire can handle a frame. They also do excellent work. Greenland is about a 40 minute drive from the Mass border.

Yes, they are on the same Industrial Park as FFR, but they are not the current powdercoating supplier for them.

I just called PowderCoating Solutions and they can handle up to 6' x 12'. Their estimate for coating a frame was $700. Also, they highly recommend getting it sandblasted first. They will handle that for you, if you want, through a 3rd party at roughly $120.

Jesse,

WOW! I got mine chemically cleaned, sandblasted and a great powdercoating job in my choice of color for 300.00  I guess it's another advantage to living down south!

The only bad thing I see with getting the FFR coating is that the weld spatters will be coated. I was hoping to clean up the frame a little bit before before taking it to be coated. I am not planning any frame mods, but that would be another reason to get it coated after delivery.

Has anyone in the area found pricing that is competitive with the FFR price?

Jesse,
That's why I waited, I smoothed out the noticeable welds and ground more flat the ones where the aluminum fits on top for a more flat fit. Besides, I didn't really want the black powdercoating.
