This has not really been much of a problem on FFCars yet, but before it becomes an issue, please read this and make any comments you want.

Customer complaints need to be handled up front; in private with the vendor until such a time arises that a compromise cannot be met. At this time it would seem appropriate to address the forum members to seek resolution. This forum cannot be utilized as a tool to make unnecessary demands upon the vendors for issues probably far outside their control. This is not a Trial by Press forum. (Thanks Keith for the wording)

As an example, I'll pick on FFR since David won't mind, but this applies to all vendors who support this site. I talked to David Smith today and he agreed that many people have legitimate beefs and he doesn't mind the occasional bitch session on the forum if the company truly messed up. I think the members agree, if you paid the price to buy a car, you can complain if the factory doesn't come through. But if you haven't given the vendor a reasonable amount of time/energy, please don't take it public until you have tried your best to resolve the issues. But if that doesn't work, by all means... let 'em have it on the forum!

The idea behind an open forum is to support each other through the good times and bad. But what we don’t want is for our members to feel they are in the middle of a soap opera. That’s just not what FFCars members are all about. We’re fun guys/gals who just want to support each other in a positive manner. When it becomes negative, it’s no fun. Unless you’re into kicking people around, then maybe you like that stuff. But not me, and not the other members who formed this group. Our site is getting much more traffic and it’s because we are a positive, professional, and helpful group of highly accomplished individuals with a common goal: “to help others with their FFR build.”

This was addressed early in starting this forum: http://www.ffcars.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=000842

I just want everyone to be aware of the house rules and feel free to discuss this if you don’t agree with it..

Thanks!

Well said Bill.
I'm a builder, and although our new residences are put through an exhaustive punch out procedure then examined by no fewer than three sets of eyes, as the saying goes, s--t happens occasionaly. Let me know about it and it will be taken care of, first priority. If someone were to start whining to friends and neighbors before even notifying me I'd be seriously P.O.'d.
The latter is exactly what occured on another site this week, and my hat is off to Dave for handling it graciously. The dude's approach frosted me quite frankly; never mind if it was about a car, a house, or a Burger King cheeseburger, give a guy the chance to make your problem right before spewing. I'm NOT wearing a brown shirt as I type this either, thank you very much! ;)
BTW Bill, enjoyed meeting and spending a bit of time with you last weekend.
Later,
Jeff

For some reason, I think Steve is just KERMIT's front man...
