For those of you that read of my first experience with country living, rats and cars... here is the follow-up. (for those that didn't, rats ate my wifes little 560SL and it caught fire. It's cobra related 'cause it was the bribe that went with my kit purchase.)
So after dealing with four different people at Allstate, claims administrator, car value analyst, claims adjuster/inspector guy, and fire specialist technician/inspector guy, they totalled it and wrote me a check. It covered my total investment in the car, and then a few bucks. Kudos to Allstate, they paid well and quickly. Too bad my mechanic didn't remove the vanity plates before they towed it.
BUT!, moving on... I go out to start up my tractor last weekend... gonna pick some avocados, need to move some bins around, and I hear some rustling coming from the engine area... CRAP! I poke around with a stick, look at the wiring... looks okay, so I hop up, cross my fingers, and it starts right up..
I drive down to the front of the house, park it, close the garage doors (don't want the rat in there again!) and get my little snake/rat shot loaded .22 pistol and the hose... I spray the engine, nothing, pop the top off the nose, and there he is! spray him, he hops out and I chase the little sucker around the tractor, everytime I think he's coming out from underneath the tractor or behind a tire, he runs over to the other side... finally he jets out, goes running down the side of the house, I take aim, squeeze, and nothing. Damn safety! He looks back, laughs at me and races through the grove, and under the shed, I assume to join the snakes that hide under there...
Now, I'm looking around to replace my wifes toy and my boss says he has just the car for me... (that's what he said about the 560, but that turned out okay in the end, right?) So, next week, I'm flying up to pick up my wifes MBZ replacement, a black Mustang GT, '99 with bullet hood and '01 headlights, and only 19k miles. It's not a convertible, but it's cool looking, hopefully she'll be happy with it. I'm already studying the Summit catalog, looking at exhaust and intake upgrades, maybe a little blower will do the trick! She says no, but she can't stay at home ALL the time... hehehe
Two weekends in a row, I've spent a day working on my Cobra, this weekend, trying for three!
