Since the FFR is basically done, I figure it won't be too long and I will want another project to keep me in the garage. I was kinda thinking that one of those chopper motorcycles would be kinda cool. Anybody here know anything about them?

thanks,
John

Nope. No Discovery tonight. However, I have seen Jesse's show before. He builds some awesome machines though. Just very $$$$$$$$. I guess I will do some research on the Net. Hey Bill, why don't you start a chopper forum for us guys that need another project :D . I thought about an airplane but I guess I better stay a little closer to the ground.

There are some pretty cool project bikes. I've always like what Ron Sims has been building but Jesse's bikes are pretty bad ass too.

If you think you spent a lot of money on your FFR just wait until you see how deep the money pit is on the killer bike.

I know Ron's bikes go for more than $60K, and I think Jesse's bikes start at even more than that.

I've got the bug really bad too after seeing all of the bikes coming down from Tahoe this week after the big weekend up there.

Well, I don't know much about motorcycles....
never been too interested in street bikes,,, BUT,

earlier this summer, there was one at a cruise night I was at that I went about GAGA over.

I spoke briefly to the owner about it. It was painted a house of kolor "tangerine" and he said the bike was a borget, or boregay,,something like that.

All I know is that it was the baddest looking bike I ever saw....had about a ten inch wide rear tire on it too.

Buying a Harley can be more costly than the FFR. I had a 1999 Sportster Sport 1200. One of the fastest HD's ever made. But I couldn't stop buyin shiney things and leather products. Sorry to say that PITA would not be happy with my Harley purchases.

Cycle forum? We could do that too!

im sure they will show them again. It was a new show about jesse. He builds a bike for himself and a giant chopper for shaq. There is also a new show that he is involved with, premiers tomorrow night at 8est. Its called monstermachines or something like that. They make cool cars and vehicles out of other cars, etc... looked cool.

Bill - you can appreciate this. I have (bought new) a 98 1200S. We put custom built S&S 84" jugs on it with Wisco forged pistons. S&S "E" carb with third circuit, Vance & Hinds made a sportster version of the Pro Pipe for it, Andrews N-6 cam. Took the big valved heads for a Buell and twin-plugged them (that was perfect as the 1200S was stock with 2 plugs per cylinder). You talk about fast. This thing will keep up with an R-1 to 100mph. You ought to see the look on some of the younger rice riders when an old man on a Harley smokes 'em. Oh yeah, custom paint (iridencent purple flames and a "Harley" breakout paint job on the tank). Most of the rest of the bike has also been customed (handlebars, pegs, lights, seat, etc).

Wife has one too - a Dyna Low Rider, but she has not done a lot of work to it.

BTW - a magizine like Iron Works advertises about a million custom build frames, trannys, engines, etc for a home built custom "Harley". I would think that after the Cobra, a bike build would be rather easy.

My brother built a custom bike. He had almost 35k in it and he was barely getting started with the mods. He sold it to hopefully buy a FFR kit.

BTW, he owns a company called Ghost Rider Productions which does a lot of video production for the Speed Channel and other motorcycle shows.

I was thinking of the kit bikes also ( after the car is somewhat finished). Seems to me by the time you buy a Harley and customize it (new rims, exhaust, frame mods, performance mods, paint, chrome, chrome & chrome) it would be cheaper to start with a kit. Why pay for everything twice.

I've built many custom Harley's from sratch. My last bike was a 61 panhead that turned out awesome. And no It didn't leak oil. I had about $22000.00 in it. When I sold it I lost ALOT of money on it!! I know we don't always build ower projects for a profit but bikes are way to hard to sell just to break even. Jesse's bikes are awesome but for $60000.00 I'd rather have a Superformance. Alot more bang for the buck. I guess the bottom line is, If you don't mind spending $5000.00 on a TWO cylinder stroker motor, go for it.

This thread makes me smile
since I'm going the other direction - I finished a rebuild on my motorcycle and decided to build the FFR next. I did an 883 --> 1200 conversion on a 1994 HD Sportster. It turned out magnificently! New cylinders, pistons, heads, lots of chrome, etc., and not a single oil leak. Hey, if I can do an engine how hard can building a car be? :D

Thanks not a Harley, its a Porsche in Harley clothing. :D Really, its a joint venture between Harley and Porsche. Now if that doesn't make you smile, what will?

You're right, a harley with a Porsche Superbike derived engine if I remember correctly.
