I'd like to not use the quickjacks, because I want an ultra sanitary look. What do you guys think of filling the front quickjack holes and using chrome carriage bolts in the rear.

Oldguy-

I think it would enhance the looks. I took a picture of a black one and took out the QJ's. Looks much cleaner. But, don't the front QJ's hold the body on?

Can the quickjacks actually be used. I've read conflicting statements in the FFR literature and magazine articles.

2Fast, don't worry, I don't have the car yet so there's no danger. Thanks for the clarification.

I hate 'em. I guess it makes for a good 'track' look, but not for the street, IMO. I've also heard they've collected quite a bit of shin flesh from their owners... OW

Of course I don't have a car yet, but I plan to have no quickjacks or bumpers. The bumpers would be a good idea to protect the body from being hit, but if the quickjacks aren't functional, maybe the frame isn't strong enough for the bumpers to work properly either... I'm not that fond of chrome, so the bumpers don't do much for me either.

The front quickjacks don't support the body, but the back ones do. My plan is to have no holes drilled for either the front or back, then mount a nut inside the back of the body to attach those two points to the frame. If you can successfully fill the front holes, you could fill the back ones easily.

As usual, my $0.02

Get rid of the Frankenbolts on the sides too.

Steve-

While looking under the rear of my friend Gene's (6T5 Cbra) car, I hit my forehead on one of his QJ's. Man did the blood flow!! Those puppies are hard!!

Not to mention that the quick jacks are question number 3 (the first two are, Is it real? and Is it original?); "What are those things for?"

Is it true that the rear QJs are functional?

No, the bolts will bend or break trying to lift the weight of the car. They are cosmetic only on the FFR cars (and probably all the other replicas as well).

The Red one on FFR's website has the holes filled - I think it looks great.
Check it out - go to FFR.com click on the MKII and click on the red one right.

My wife nicknamed my car Christine in refrence to Stephen Kings novel. It seems whenever she passes the car the quick jacks bite her.

I have the bumperettes. I think they look cleaner than the QJ and add a small (very) amount of protection. They dont hurt nearly as much as a QJ
when you walk by them and as some one else said you wont have to answer the third question!

I prefer the look of the Over-riders than the quick jacks. Someday, on my never-ending list of Christmas and B-day presents, I should have them. I've still got a knot in my shin from pinning my leg under one of the quick jacks while trying to answer the phone. (go figure, it was my mother-in-law calling)
