Ok, I took the donor car out for some driving today and have some sort of odd oil pressure issue.

Stock gauge cluster reads oil pressure at startup somewhere around 40-50 psi. It's fine at idle and at rpm's UNTIL... it gets warmed up.

Once it's warm, when the RPM's drop below 1000, the oil pressure gauge drops off the bottom of the scale.

I'm thinking that there's still pressure and that this is either a bad sender or possibly something electrical.

Where do I start looking to track it down?

Leonard,

I had an fluctuating oil pressure problem in mine as well. It turned out to be the oil pressure sending unit. I gather that they can clog and send bad data to the gauge.

It's a cheap swap, if I recall. In fact, the socket that I had to buy to remove the old one cost more than the replacement part!

Go to your local parts house and pick up a cheap mechanical oil pressure gauge and put it in. Check your pressure with that. If you still have pressure issues, you will need to do a rebuild on at least the short block.
