I am bringing the car to the painter this weekend. I have the body off right now to finish up a few things. Can you let me know a few of the big things I dont want to forget to do while the body is off. Also, is it difficult to take off and put the body on after it is painted. I am trying to avoid this but I have not put the rear carpet on and am worried that I cant do it without taking the body off. I would like to wrap it up and over into the trunk as others have suggested. Can this be done with the body on?

Ther would be alot less cussing if you did the trunk carpet with the body off! The other major thing is to make sure you have your wireing strightened out and secured behind the dash. I think it is much easier to carpet the cockpit with the body off, just make sure you position/trim the under door aluminum before the body comes off if you plan on going this route.

here is my list of stuff to do while the body is at Dave's being painted:

already did:
-weld in "X"s under the doors to stiffen up the frame like the MarkIIIs have.
-remove unused spring perches
-replace lower steering joint
-replace throttle pedal
-rewire dash using terminal strips
-add header heat shields on footboxes
-have splashpanels, battery bracket, and radiator aluminum anodized
-put snaps in trunk for removable carpet / padding

to do:
-replace radiator lines

details are on my February2005 page
