I've been following the very useful Not Starting thread because I'm having a similar problem. No fuel pump and no starter. '92 donor. I'll do all the tracing using the other thread but hope someone might have some suggestions for my no crank condition.

The solenoid is fine. If I jumper 12V to the little post, the engine cranks.

I put a meter on the R/G wire that goes to the post and found that when I turn the key to start, and press the clutch pedal, it goes from floating to zero volts.

Any thoughts?

Do you have the transmission harness installed? The start circuit goes down to the neutral safety switch in an automatic car. Even in a manual car the circuit goes down the tranny harness. However, in a manual car the wires don't actually attach to the transmission. The circuit makes a U-turn at a connector in the tranny harness and come back up to the main harness. In short, if the tranny harness is missing, and the needed wires haven't been jumpered together, the starter won't engage.

Ah ha! Someone mentioned an alarm in an old thread. That got the gears whirring. Long story short: W/P wire off ignition switch was cut. Now I have cranky, no starty. EEC relay is engaging. No fuel pump. No spark. Time to go through all the checks Paul posted earlier.

Hmmm. 8v on the yellow wire going into the fuel tank harness.

I will order the Helms manual first thing tomorrow. (kicking self)

The Y/W wire at the fuel tank harness is for the fuel level sending unit. ('89 donor) The fuel pump is powered by the PK/BK and grounded on the BK wire.

Thanks. I was suspecting as much. I checked when switching to ON and there's no power to the pump. I haven't been able to positively ID the fuel pump relay. I think the wiring must have changed from the '89 discussed in the other thread.

My Helms manual is ordered.

Thanks guys. I'll have something to check out while waiting for the manual.
