Need electrical help

Last evening my wife asked me for a ride in the Cobra, so we went to dinner and after we were going to take a nice ride down to the river and just make a nice big loop around town, when I turned on the lights they came on just fine, but the dash lights went out and all the gauges went to the full right side, I shut the lights off and everything came back to normal, did this several times hoping it would fix itself%/ , well you know it didn't:3DSMILE: at any rate I had to run the lights to get home, which I did as quickly as possible any ideas so I don't have to rip the darn dash out ???
