I guess I threw the baby out with the bath water. Any of you folks not using the cannister want to get rid of the bracket?

Tim, mine didn't come with a bracket -not sure if any do- and mounting it as per manual was just too flimsy. From a piece of flat but sturdy metal I fabbed a bracket and it works great. A straight piece with two holes at one end (top) and a sharp "hook" on the other end to support the bottom of the canister. Primed, painted and mounted on the small vertical 3/4" tube.

I did not like the thought of Hammering bracket flat and fasten to 3/4 tube. Sounded "amatuerish".
I mounted mine to the front of pass foot box. Carraige bolt thru top hole and I rivited a 1" x 1" alum. angle to the bottom of foot box. I used it as an outside corner only I left an 1/8" gap on verticle face of foot box to receive canister.
