Wash, dry and apply some good wax with no carnuba in it. Zaino works best, but others will work fine, just nothing with real wax. Why? What does wax do when it gets hot? Melts. We want a chemical polish (wax) because it will last longer.

Good luck and where's the pictures of the polished panels?

Bill,

OK, I screwed up - put pure Carnuaba wax on it (should have read the "no" in my son's note)    . Any advice now. Please don't tell me to start over.

No big deal. Just apply another coat of a wax without any real wax in it. All you're really doing is coating the panels to save them from needing polished again soon.

Too late - I just buried the kid in back yard.

His note (ALMOST a hand written duplicate of your posting) - should have printed it out - didn't have the word NO in it.

Guess I'll just rewax it in the morning. I was going to try something called Zoopseal but's $130 and I'm starting to feel a little cheap.

OK, I'll just back into the back yard go dig him up.

(Actually I think that he's going to get to help me POR15 the chassis as a payback for his minor mistake - I like to think of it as "quality time")

Just give him the Marine Clean and take away his gloves.

(No, don't do that.)

The ZoopSeal is on "sale" for 95 bucks.

POR makes a product called Glisten PC but it's pretty pricy as well and has gotten mixed reviews.

Eastwood has "Metal Diamond Clear" in a rattle can that might be worth a shot.

Dunno what the optimal solution is, I've been installing aluminum and pondering this myself.

I'm probably going to call Restomotive on Monday and quiz them on Glisten PC.

Regards,

Bill

Let me know what you find. I don't want to polish twice (and you can't after the car's been assembled anyway) and I've talked with a lot of builders lately who say it looks grat at first but can't be maintained.

If you Clear Anodized a polished piece of Aluminum would it retain the luster?
