Earl, did you get my suggestion for a speaker off of the yahoo forum?

Count me in for 3 people and if I bring the speaker and his partner it will be 5 people total.

So far, we have had 3 suggestions for speakers....

a local CSX owner,
A guy that has written books of Ford engines,
and your safety guy.

Last year, we had Bob Olthoff speak. VERY INTERESTING.

Last year, we invited all cobra owners, as we had it at a MUCH larger location. Last year, we had a good turn out by the local SPF guys.

We need a logo of a wrecked cobra for me to use.
Introducing you would take longer than the talk. :D :D

The three of us, my wife, Jake and I plan on being there just waiting to be sure her, my wife's schedule will allow her to take the day off to be sure.

If it's all three of us I know it will be more practical to bring over the Mustang, but she may play chase car and follow me over.

Hey Earl,

Even though we won't be able to attend, I know it's a great cause and would like to help.

I do not have any FFR stuff to offer for the auction, but I do have a bunch of other sports items that you could pick from if you think there might be any interest. We got several signed NASCAR promo cards (9X12) directly from the teams, after our auction and are just saving them for next year. Bobby Labonte, Ryan Newman, Ward Burton, Jeff Burton, Robby Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Mike Skinner... etc, etc, etc...

Also, I have several unsigned NFL helmets, both Mini and Proline. If you are interested, let me know and I'll donate one.

I will donate a wood gearshift knob. I turn them from the exotic wood left over from my sculptures. Cocobolo, Wenge, Rosewood, Padauk, etc... I'll try to get a picture posted later.

Wishing you all the best........

Michael~ :D

UPDATE:

There is great response to the party. Have not done an unofficial head count yet, but a great resonse.

We (RACERAL) is issueing a Personal Request to Jim Maxwell to come, bring his CSX cars and speak to the group. Hopefully Jim, who is very generous with his csx cobras, will be able to speak with us for about 20-30 minutes between 6 and 7:00 pm.

Raceral is also going to issue an invitation to another friend of his to speak at supper at the NASCAR Cafe. This guy has written 10 books about FORD Engines and was involved in the GT40 project and the TRANSAM racing in the 70's. This guy ownes a 427 sideoiler replica with tunnel port heads.

If either of these two guys cant attend, we are going to invite a local guy that is heavily involved in NASCAR Safety to speak.

We (the co-conspirators) are asking that those that are planning to come send $5.00 per head to RACERAL, the treasurer.

AL ADKINS,
713 Wilkins St.
MAYODAN, NC 27027

If you want to send (mail/UPS) any items to be auctioned, Please send them to My attention

Earl Groce
C/O) Pudding Ridge Golf Club
224 Cornwallis Drive
Mocksville, NC 27028

The $5.00 registration will be used to cover expenses. We expect most of it to be left over to donate to TEAM JENNY.

THOSE OF YOU THAT CAN, PLEASE DRIVE YOUR COBRA. Try to get there a few minutes before 5:00 so we can get you inside Whitby Motors, close the door and get that big building warm for the shindig.
Weather permitting, we will convoy the 2 miles over to NASCAR CAFE.

We will try to have the silent auction complete by 6:30 so it will not interfere with the convoy or supper.

Earl Groce
Jeff Collins
Al Adkins, CO-Conspirators.

Just did a rough head count.... The Unofficial head count is up to about 40 and its only been 4 days since the party was announced.

Dr. Jim Maxwell has (if his schedule allows) agreed to come talk to us about what its like to own 2.5 CSX cobras. Hopefully, he will be presenting this talk, at WHITBY MOTORS between his two CSX Cobras. :D :D

Tom Monroe has agree to come and talk after the meal about his involvement with FORD. Tom was involved with the GT40 Project, The boss 302 project, The Bricklin and he had a highly successful TRANSAM team. PLUS, he has written several books about FORDS and Ford Engines.

We have invited DAVID SMITH, but he has not had time to respond.

David Smith is going to try to come. Im sure there are many of you that will enjoy meating David for the first time. For those who already have, its always good to say howdy to a friend.

DAVID has promised to send some FANTASTIC DOOR PRIZES.... Cant wait to reveal the details.. BUT, if he sends what he said he would send, IT WILL BE FANTASTIC.

We have found out from NASCAR CAFE, that they can modify the room to make it bigger, if we have to many for the basic room.

At Als request, Dr. Jim Maxwell is going to try to arrange his schedule to come tell us what its like to own 2.5 CSX cobras. Jim has always been GREAT to share his original cobra with us. He has a pearl colored big block street car and a grey small block street car with 4 webber down drafts. Both cars are pretty much original. They have not been restored.

Al Adkins has arranged for TOM MONROE of Hickory to speak to us after supper. Tom started at ford in 66. he worked on the original GT40 project. He was involved the the bos 302 TransAm cars. He authored "How to Rebuld Small-Block Fords" and others. He has set records at Bonneville and run the Baja 1000.

Tom owns a Cobra Replcia with a 427 side oiler and tunnel port heads.

Tentative schedule:

4:30-5:00 Park Cobras inside at Whitbys

5:00-6:45 Open House at Whiby Motors.

6:00-6:30 (hopefully) Dr Jim Maxwell to speak about Real Cobras.

6:45-7:00 Convoy to NASCAR CAFE

7:00-8:00 Eat

8:00 Tom Monroe speak and answer questions for 20 - 30 minutes.

8:45-Untill . . . . HOPEFULLY David Smith to talk about Factory Five.

BE LOOKING FOR STUFF FOR THE SILENT AUCTION.
