Does the EGR valve need to be mounted in the original orientation? (i.e. against verticle wall mounted upright) If I cut it out on a mass air converted desmogged 5.0 what size resister to I place in line? Any down side to cutting it out?

I have mine cut out of the system. I used a 10k, 1/2 watt resistor.

Are you referring to the TAB/TAD solenoids? As far as I know, the EGR valve can not be simulated with resistors.

I have the valve striped down to just the sensor coil with the pin sticking out. The pin is half depressed and taped/tie wrapped to the wire bundle behind the engine.

Robert, I gathered that Bill was referring to the EGR vacuum solenoid, not the EGR valve itself. I did the same as you for the actual valve.
