I got a set of Carbotech Bobcat 1521 pads (haven't tried them yet). The instructions that came with them said proper bedding of the pads was extremely important (per instructions: failure to properly bed the pads could lead to causing the friction material to chunk resulting in bad performance and overheating, which can cause the pads and rotors to glaze). The bedding process recommended is:

1. Brake from 60 mph to 20 mph about 4-6 times.
2. Let brakes cool for about 2-3 minutes while driving.
3. Repeat step 1.
4. Allow the brake pads and discs to cool down to ambient temperature (about 30 minutes or more).
