I haven't had manual brakes on a car since high school, so refresh me on this one. About how much travel in the pedal is "normal" for manual brakes? Joe

Not much. You should have about an inch or two of travel before they get rock hard.

i have about 1 1/2 inches of travel. a little spongy, but not too spongy.

surprisingly happy with them.

The amount of free travel before you feel the brakes start to work is a direct relation to the pedal lever ratio. My free travel increased very noticeably after I did the ratio mod.But after a week or so it just became the new normal.
