I ran into a Lincoln LSC rear end, it has a 5 lug set-up with disc brakes. I presently have an 87 Mustang GT rear with 4 lug and drum which I was happy with (I just started to build my FFCars). Does any one know if this Lincoln rear will swap easy or not? There is no quadshocks but the rears look the same. Also I think the rear width of the Lincoln rear is about 2" wider??? Has any one done this swap? I am talking about swaping the whole 87 GT rear for the Lincolns. If there is a width difference, is there an offset wheel that will work? Thank You

The Lincoln rear is about 2.5" wider than the Mustang. You can get some usable parts from the Lincoln though, gears if they are better than the Mustang's and the disc brakes. You can get 5-lug axles from '86-'92 Ranger/Broncos (driver side) or '86-'97 Aerostar (passenger side) with 9" drums. Check this page out for the disc install rear disc

Richard:
If using the axles from the M2300K brake kit and the M4006-B373 housing, what's the width? Is it standard Mustang, or the wider Lincoln, or something in between? There seems to be quite a bit of space between the end of the housing and the back of the axle flange. It measures 61.25" face to face right now. Any idea what the standard Mustang width is?

I agree with Richard - unless the gears are better then what you have now, sell it, get a Fox drum brake setup for cheaper and go with the 2300 brakes, offset brackets from Richard, and some Ranger axles.

I have a Lincoln rear and - hindsight being 20/20 - I should have done it differently. It is nice now, but I ended up with more $$ in it then I should have.
