I know what the length is supposed to be, but was wondering if it is possible to just weld the rod back togather and not do the adjustable thing? Wouldn't the spacers be enough adjustment after shortening the rod?

Thanks guys

I used the donor rod and one spacer. Perfect for me.

As for welding. If you're good enough to cut and weld the rod, it would be no problem for you to cut and run a die around the rod and have absolute adjustablity.

If you look at my build pics (below), you will see that after I cut the rod, I inserted the two "halves" into a short piece of steel tube I got from Home Depot (3/8" I.D. I think) and glued them with J. B. Weld.
