I purchased my Factory Five Mark 3 Roadster and with the misc. parts I received was an uninstalled interior compartment detachable cover. I am worried about installing this part and it damaging my paint job when it is attached and detached. Is this part really necessary? Do people rarely use this? Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like a tonneau cover to me. I have one for my car that I love. Helps keep the heat in when it's a bit sub zero, and keeps curious eyes away when you're away.

If its a "lift the dot" tonneau cover, no paint problems using it.

That said you might want to get someone help you do the install if its your first time through. Not sure what kind of studs come with the FFR kit, mine is a Whitbys, but be sure to use the bolt through studs not the screw in ones.

A tonneau cover is a must in my opinion. Nice to have if your away from your car and it starts to rain, keeps leaves and other debris from entering the cockpit when parked, prevents the seats from reaching scalding temps if parked in the sun, provides a degree of security, etc. if you don't want to monkey with drilling into the car to install, there's a snap-less option out there from a forum vendor, that a number of guys have used, myself included, that is very high quality.

I've been wondering this for a while: what do you do with the driver's side flap when you're driving? Do you roll it up and let it sit on top of the shoulder straps?

If it has a zipper, you just tuck it behind the seat.I have a zipper, but just let it hang down. It doesn't get in the way at all. Mine has a custom batten type stiffener down the center so it doesn't flop around at speed.

I open the main zipper & the Velcro section at the drivers roll bar. This enables folding it behind the passenger seat so I can use the full safety harness.
