Anyone have pics of the dash all lit up at night?

On this same note....who all here sees more of their gauges than the street when driving at night. I get one hell of a reflection off my windshield...

I have the Classic gages also. At night, I use my dimmer to shut them almost completely off...yes, reflection from the inside of the winshield is too distracting.

I was hoping you'd post the gauges so I could DL them and not have to buy my own! ;)

FWIW, on my old car, I had glare problems with the Smith's instruments reflecting up into the windshield at night. I got some right-angled plastic stock from a hobby shop, about 12" long, glued some 1" x 12" plastic sheet to each side of the angle piece, and painted the whole thing flat black. I pushed one of the 1" wide edges of this gizmo up under the dashboard lip of the body, above the speedo and tach. That left the other 1" wide edge sticking out horizontally from the dash toward the steering wheel. It was enough to prevent the instruments from glaring upward to the windshield, and you can remove it without any damage to the dash if you don't like it. I think you can see what I'm talking about in this pic of my old interior if you squint real hard. Instrument shade

John is dead on!
I am occasionally distracted and irritated by the glare of the smith's in the windshield. When in the city you don't even notice with all the other lights but when you get out on a dark road it's glaring.
I've used cardboard, bent on the 90, and stuffed between the dash and upper mounting area. I keep meaning to cut a piece of plastic with a bit of a curve but never got around to it. Good winter, "what can I do next", project.

I have Classic gauges too but never have driven at night :( - has anyone put red bulbs in their gauges. Probably will look cool and should eliminate most of the glare.

Just thinking . . .

Don't know if it will work, but that's why I went with the Autometer Phantom gauges, and have the red filters on the lights.

Hope to be on the road in a couple of months, so we'll see then I guess.

I am no expert, but I would think this problem could be caused by the angle of the windshield and/or the angle of the dash. Couldn't one just tweak these a little in an attempt to remedy this?

I think Nickoby is on the right track.
But honestly, I dont get a glare when I am in the drivers seat.
I would post a pic with the headlights off but I dont have that option.
Its all on or all off.

Yeah, I have Ultralites and I just turn mine down, but I was just wondering who all had noticed this. It's not really a glare, just the reflection of the gauges...
