Looks like you have it wired wrong? The hot wire,(red) goes to the center terminal

Sorry, whats confusing?
Typically the power goes to the center terminal, which is the largest. Doesn't look like that in the picture. Maybe it's a different type of switch than I have seen before. That why I used a question mark (?)
