ignition suppression resistor

For the EFI guys.... in the Ford schematic inline from pin 4 (signal 11) of the EEC to the TFI and
negitive side of the coil is a resistor called the ignition suppression resistor. Does anyone know
what effect it has on the signal to the coil?
