Originals were Lucas. They're still available. I used an ignition switch for a '66 Mustang. I liked the key, and you can still get them from Ford.(or a number of other sources).

Needed some spare keys for my '64 Galaxie so stopped by the local locksmith, at the same time I decided to get some spares for the (now ex) wife's '69 XR7.
He pulled out original Ford key blanks, same as the originals & cut em for $2 each

The trunk and hood still use the keys from the kit. The nice thing about using the 65 Mustang ignition is that you get standard type keys with "FORD" stamped on them.

When I get to that stage (have to get the kit first), I plan on going that route. I might talk to a locksmith and see how difficult it would be to re-key/re-lock the units from the kit to a Mustang set. Like I said before, it really adds a finished/polished look.
