I am not going the donor route and would like to know if anyone has used the Ididit straight steering column. The tube dia. for the steel one is 2 inch with a 4 inch bezzel the aluminum one is 1.750 and a 5 inch bezzel. What length should the shaft be? Any other suggests would be greatly appricated. Thanks.

 Eric

Won't work without some serious customizing.

I went with the breeze steering shafts and Russ Thompson's turn signal. Flaming River rag joint eliminator setup.

Eric,

For under $400 you can do what was mentioned above. I also went non donor and used the exact set-up as mentioned by Onza. I looked at the Ididit set-up and asked myself why invent the wheel. I got the chromed shaft from Tristate which connects to the F-river lower rag joint eliminator.. up top I have the Russ turn signal unit real nice and easy install. The Mustang colapsable (sp?) unit was ten bucks at local salvage yard that I got when I picked up pedal box..

The Ididit columns won't fit.

The FFR kits do not use a covered steering shaft, nor are they floor mount.

You would have to reengineer the steering system to work with the IDIDIT column.

They are also "Taller" on the dash side which would likely put the steering wheel too close to you.

There's no real reason to get that heavily involved unless you just want to.

If you just want to, and are down for spending lots of cash and customizing the heck out of something that doesn't really need it - then go for it.

Those columns are EXPENSIVE, and obviously you won't be able to return it once you hack it apart.

This would be one of those only do it if re-engineering and money are NOT a consideration things.
