After rading Duane's article about polishing his upper intake and valve cover, I decided I would give it a whirl. Just like school, it wasn't very fun. I would say I got a "B" on my valve covers and a "C-" on the intake.

That intake had to many little curves for me to do anywhere near a perfect job. It looks better than the paint that was on it. I can always upgrade to a fancy polished intake like you guys just bought on the GP later.

Here's a couple picture of the intake. It looks better in the picture.

Personally as long as the deep sanding gouges are out, I think a satin brushed finish looks AWESOME! Maybe even take a scotch brite pad and go to town, it would look really really good then.

Mark,

Cool! Looks good in the satin finish. Much better than the stock cast finish.

It looks like you're close to a nice mirror like finish thought. A little more red and then some white and you'll be there.

It sure is a bugger though, isn't it.

Oh ya ,I'm really liking that satin finish.I have polished some of the pieces on my car,now seeing as I didnt clear them(I'll remedy that next time it comes apart)I have to maintain that mirror finish,or maybe say to heck with it and go with the high tech looking satin or brushed finish. My primary enjoyment comes from driving it,so the time I have to spend rubbing parts with Mothers is time spent not driving it.Good Building
