After four years I'm finally finishing my car up.
I pulled out my Simpson seat belts for installation and all the hardware is covered with lousy looking splotchy grey oxidation. Or what looks like oxidation.
What is this and is there a good way to remove it without getting the powder all over the webbing and making things look worse?
Thanks for any input or ideas.

Try steel wool or a small wire wheel attached to you drill. Cover the webbing by taping with some shop towels or scrap rags you have.

Try never dull available in hardware stores you may want to consider new belts if you are going to race the car . They look at the date code at the track. Bob
