The wrecker dropped off my 1992 5.0 automatic donor car yesterday. The problem is I don't have a set of keys to it so I would like to know how to fire it up so I can hear it run before I tear it apart.

Slide hammer to pull the tumbler out and turn with your finger....or a big flat bladed screwdriver and a big crescent wrench to turn it and shear the tumblers off. It's not like you want to save it.

Another way to do it is to remove the covering from the steering columm, then unplug the harness from the switch. Get a couple jumper wires. Find what slot is hot, then jump from it to the other slots until you find the slots the power the starter and computer (you'll hear the fuel pump). Run one jumper from hot to the computer slot, then touch the other to the starter slot until it fires. It's alot easier than it sounds.

I think you can just put a screwdriver across the terminals(battery and ignition) on the solenoid to activate it. Or destroy the barrel as listed, lol.

Find someone with an ignition with a key and use it. Take the plug off hook it up to the new ignition and turn it over. Cheers Richard.
