These are race cars and they do require maintenance between the races. You’ll want to check key bolts and hoses in between each race weekend. Also visually inspect brakes and rotors. Check that the brake calipers are tight and inspect the exhaust system. Wiggle the plug wires to make sure they are tight.

When you are just getting started in racing it’s common to feel a bit overwhelmed and feel like you just need to get to the track and then finish off your maintenance. Old-timers will tell you “don’t do maintenance at the track”. They are right. Try really hard to get all your stuff done before you show up. Plan on a few hours of review and minor repairs in between each weekend and you’ll be fine. The cars are very reliable if properly maintained and a little work up front will make your weekend more enjoyable – and give you a better chance to concentrate on your driving.
