As the title says - how do you know what year 5.0 you are looking at ? My thoughts are that anyone can put a "5.0HO" plate on the intake, but that doesn't help you...

Behind the intake there is the VIN number of the block that will tell you everything you need to know about the block. You do need a decoder to help decifer the numbering system.

Brian,
When you take the "5.0" intake cover off, an 87 to 93 upper intake will have "H O" cast in the manifold.
87 to 92 motors are identical except for the engine harness-they all have forged pistons.
The 93 motor has hypereutectic pistons.
Best regards,
Chuck

I thought you were going for a 4.6l build?
2 issues arose that changed that plan: Difficulty finding a resaonably priced donor in good shape; and the need to expand the passenger footbox substantially to accomodate a cramped leggy co-pilot

What can I say. You go with the flow.

Make sure that you try to get an 89 and up! They are the Mass Airflow cars.

Good question, what are these two?
:D

It's all a guessing game with these cars. Everything is interchangable. Just get one you like.
