This includes rusted metal parts, and pitted aluminum parts. I was looking through the build pages, and everybodies engine and misc parts look so nice and shiny!

Sandlbasting is very very helpful. Paint helps alot too. The aluminium is hard to clean and make it look new(you can beadblast it and it will look new) but a good degreasing and some eastwood alumblast looks really good on the cars that I have seen it on.

Crave,
Welcome to the fun! The clean up is my worst part so far. I just bought a cheapo sand blaster from JC whitney. The kind that just sucks outta the bag of media. I think I paid $16 US for it. Don't forget to get a hood tho. Harbor freight has them for $17.00. Have fun!

Lots of degreaser, brake cleaner removes lots of bad stuff. If you are going to paint your block, you need to clean it extremely well. I spent hours cleaning my motor, painted it Newfie Chrome, and rust came through very quicky. So I repainted it a stealtly high temp flat black. Now the rust is not visible.
