Has anyone cut off the round bar (tube) that wraps around the top of the hood and just used the flater part at the bottom and the portion that extends about half way up the hood??? Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Ray

The first FFR hood hinge was just the front part like you are going to do. It is stiffer if you use the whole thing. I think the tube was added to minimize hood flex when shut. The hood struts push on the middle of the hood when closed.

Rumor has it that the hinge for the MKIII hood is dramatically different. For one, the hood now has a liner. I never saw the MKII setup, so it's hard for me to compare. Anyone?

Ray - like others have said, they used to come like that from the factory. The only caution I would add is if your hood isn't perfectly shaped, the "horseshoe" part of the bracket can be bent to pull the hood into shape. Without it, you're at the mercy of the fiberglass.
