i'll start with an easy one, i figure i'll start by setting my lights up in the front and back, and get those temporarily wired. how do i connect the painless wires to each of these? is there adaptors that i can install on the painless wires to make it a plug-in, if so , where can they be purchased? or do i just use the butt connectors supplied with the wiring harness?vince

O.K. heres what i did. I started by mounting the fuse box. this is the only real fixed part of the entire harness. I then grouped the wires in sections containing front, back, dash and engine.
This will get you started on the right path. I then ran all wires to there approximate location and cut off most of the excess. After this is all done, you can start covering each section of harness with what ever you plan to cover them with. After you are satisfied with the routing, you can start to connect things. I bought waterproof plugs from Summit, i believe. They are made by painless. they work very well for all the lights and other conections. you can get them in many different wire counts. I put plugs and all lights, all dash wiring and all engine wiring that didnt have them.
Others may want to add to this or change my opinion. :D :D

hey mike, what i did is got my wires run to what i assume are the right areas, i figure now i will start connecting the wires, so what you did was get some molex connecters , um i think thats what they are called, or quick connects, where you put a group of wires in on one side and the matching set on the other, then you can attach or disconnect. thats a pretty good idea, will make for a nice clean job. so for temporary i can just attach the wires anyway possible for testing purposes only. one question i do have is on the headlight, what is the running light? hi beam, lo beam, thats easy, the running light has me confused. vince

I believe the light you are talking about is the day time running lights. I did not hook mine up.
The connectors i used are more like a standard GM style waterproof connector. Very professional looking when all done.

John's wiring and lighting picture are like the holy grail of painless wiring! I have them in full color on card stock and in duplicate.

But....Where is the diagram for making the cardboard radiator cover? That is like, cool man! :D (kidding)

Home depot sells male and female connectors with water proof sleeves.. 100 of eah for under 20 bucks...

temp everything out. Mount the body on for a trial fit of everything and this is where/when you can cut to fit.

Once you are happy and everything works the body will come off for painting and you can put all those wires in wire loom and shrink tape the ends.. looks great and parts are around the corner!

good luck take your time and it will all be good.. One trick is to use a battery charge to test system not your battery. The charge will trip quick if something is buggered up.. The batter may cook things prior to fuse tripping
