Ran fine a couple months ago. Weather's warming up. Just got the license plate installed and can't get started. Here's the facts:

First time I tried to start this weekend it sounded like it was trying to fire.
Now it cranks fine, but does not try to fire.
After a minute or so of cranking I get a big backfire pop.
It has 1/4 tank of gas, and I dumped in another gallon to be sure.
New fuel pump, runs when ignition is turned on.
Pulled plug wire, looks like good spark.
Computer shows no codes except expected 1-1.

Help! Any ideas?

Maybe it's flooded? Pull a plug and see if they look wet. If it's EFI, hold it to the floor while cranking to clear the cylinders.

You say that the fuel pump runs when the ignition is turned on. Does it shut off after a couple of seconds like it should? Or, does it run continuously while the ignition is on?

Did you remove the distributor since the last time?
I had the same issue because I was 180 degrees off on the distr.

Just a thought,

Flooding seems likely, I'll pull a plug to find out. Fuel pump does shut off after a couple of seconds. I have not touched the distributor. Thanks for the ideas!

Good call, plugs are soaked with gas. Still does not start w/ wide open throttle, although it sound like it's trying. What the best way to dry out? Pull all the plugs and let it sit overnight?
Thanks!
