I've put a fair amount of effort into making the car go and stop fairly fast but today I definately noted the car's weak spot. I was driving into work and a brand new Porche turbo wanted to play. At 50-80 mph sprints I could take him fairly well but then the road got alittle bumpy and curvy and that smug little guy with his windows rolled up and AC on smoked the c#@p out of me. My car just couldn't comfortably keep up and the kid didn't appear to be a very good driver which only made things worse put us both in a formula ford at limerock and I'd crush him. Then to rub salt in my wounds he only wanted to play at speeds over 100 when the road got straight agan and sensibility took over for the testosterone rush so I backed down.
Right now I have a stock rear and 255/60/15 in back with KYB shocks. What I'm thinking is Coil overs and the 3 link setup. I'd like to keep the 15" wheels and just go to 295's in back but I'm willing to listen to any suggestions. Thanks

Install the 3 link, coilovers, and get some 17's. You wont be able to find 15" tires that will stick worth a darn.

You will want to install some stiffer front springs, probably 550-650 and some 300-350's in the rear depending on if your focus will be handling or comfort.

cobramd,
A 189 MPH, [email protected] sec, 420 HP, tiptronic 5 speed, suspension from the Blackforest Gods, car, and you're serious about thinking you could beat him, even if he was the Barney Fife of the Porschestag, no way, not in a 300HP car! A 3 link won't remedy that problem.

Thanks I'm just about to order the 3 link and coilovers.
Grumpy. I never thought I could seriously beat him but the lack of stability in sporting driving is what worried me. Planned caos is one thing but occasionally you don't have the choice and you want the car to do as much as possible when it has to. Two weeks ago I was driving down a 2 laner in my XJR and a trailer tire popped off a semi and was comming straight at me,a combination of electronic suspension tuning gizmo's a sweet blower and lots of road time made it fun (at least after I got by it) had I had to do the same in the cobra you'd be reading my obit. Anything we can do to make these things safer is well worth the time and money.

Your ffr cost, what, 30k?

You've got about 70 k to spend on upgrades :D :D

have fun.

Hell, build a coupe with Alum LS1 and every trick part you can imagine complete with Hoosier Street tires and go get him. And have fun with the 20 k change.
