I have just purchased a set of AC pedals for the brake and clutch from Finish Line. The pedals have a nub but no way to attach to the Mustang donor. I was told by the people at Finish Line that many FF owners have installed these pedals. Can anyone provide inforamtion on how to do it?

Thanks,

Dan

You have to cut off the donor pedals and then drill the tab and donor pedal to match. You may also need to do some work with a file. I filed a groove in the tab for the donor pedal, but I've heard of people that have bolted the pedal to the side of the tab. Good luck getting those rubber gromets in too, they fit but just barely!

I cut off the stock pedals, cut off half of the AC pedal mount stud, then side bolted the AC pedals to the Mustang pedal arms. There are some pics of the way I did my pedals at pedals if you'd like to see. I don't know if this is the best way, but it was easy and seems to work well. I was able to bolt the brake pedal a little further away from the accelerator pedal using this method, for more foot room between the two pedals. One pic compares the size of the stock pedal pad vs. the AC pedal; turns out the AC pedal isn't really any narrower than the stock one, but it's longer so I'm hoping it'll fit my fat feet better. Oh, if you use soapy water the grommets go on pretty easy. Good luck.

Thanks Guys,

I really appreciate your input. My Cobra is up and running and it appears that you installed yours prior to completion. I see problems in trying to do this while it is running.

Dan,

I did mine after the build and it wasn't too difficult. I found the following:
</font>
  • Cutting the old pedals off is easy
    </font>
  • Making a slot the same width of the clutch and brake pedal is more difficult (I used a Bridgeport milling machine) Note: Each one requires a different width slot. </font>
  • Make sure you have a small right angle drill with short drill bits (anything else is a pain or won't work) </font>

I installed mine after the fact. You can remove the pedals, although the brake took a combination of tools that I cannot recall. Take the opportunity to get the spacing between the pedals to your liking. I centered mine except for the clutch, which went to the side, so I could slip my foot to the side of pedal on long trips.
