My buddy and I are planning to build the 65 coupe . Whats the overall cost for the build if the engine is a 302 motor . And can we get advice on where to start . We arent mechanically inclined so is it ok to directly build this coupe or do u advice workin on something really cheap . if so what car should we practice on ?

Like Hank says, we need more information re the stuff he's aksing. However, the roadster would be a better kit to build if you lack any techncial skills or experience.

IMHO the FFR Mark IV roadster is a much more refined (read "easier") kit than the coupe and cheaper too. Plus, you'll be more likely to find someone local who's doing the same or similar thing, depending on where you live.

I'm sure others with experience building both will weigh in soon.

Another option is to keep your feelers out for a coupe that's been at least partially assembled saving you some time, cash and headache.

If you are not at all mechanically inclined maybe it's a good idea to buy a donor Mustang and build it up to the standard of parts you would want to see on your Cobra/Coupe. There are plenty of books on the maintenance of the Mustangs available. This will get you more familiar with all the parts and pieces. When you get comfortable get the kit, and transfer all the stuff.
That said I think there have been others with little experience that have just started and with the help of this forum have got the job done. I'm no car mechanic either but generally handy. Without this forum I may have been to intimidated to do this. The guys here are great, and they never make you feel like you asked a stupid question.
