Drummermikes heat sheilds are installed. I lined the back with Thermal Sound. I took it out for a spin last night. When I returned, I cautiously touched the sheilds and they were luke warm! Still undecided on whether I should paint them black. I am 90% pleased with the polish job. Those of you that have polished these, do they show swirls at certain angles in sunlight?

What is great about this hobby is everyone can do their own thing according to their own tastes.

That being said, my $0.02 is that you should paint them the same color as the exhaust.

Calicoco:

Thanks for posting the pics. I too have black pipes and was wondering how they would look with the bright metal contrast. Looks good. I'll need to put a pair of those on my Xmas list!

If you decide to do them black, consider getting them powder coated. Powder coat is resistant to chips and scratching much better than paint, especially on something like heat shields.

Derek, Powder coat will hold up on the shields. It's baked on at 400deg. They should'nt get that hot. The swirl marks should come out with polish. I use Mothers. Thanks for the words of praise. Mike

The combination compliments the wheels too. Great job.
