Trying to get a group purchase together for some AWESOME, SUPER COOL radiators for the FFR Cobra. These are top quality, high performance radiators made by
Ron Davis Radiators , and being offered by Gordon Levy .

These radiators feature:

Better cooling than the stock donor unit (wider and thicker)
All aluminum construction
Dual 12" fans
Custom shroud

Per Gordon, the cost is as follows:
Ok guys, here's the scoup on the custom radiators. For a 1 off with shroud and 2, 12" fans it will be $649. If we get a group purchase together and order 5 it will be $595. If we can get 10 or more, it will be $525. This is a custom design done by Ron Davis and Myself to fit the FFR. Shipping will very from $20-$40 depending on where you are. Please let me know. 480-446-8442.
We have three orders so far. If you are interested, please call Gordon Levy, and post here.

Here is an example of what they look like. They will have the correct Ford inlet/outlet, and can be ordered with or without a filler neck.

Thanks,

We can do the radiators with or without fillers depending on what you want. It will mount very simular to a stock radiator. I recommend using a support bar under the radiator. You can build one yourself or I can build one for you.

Do you know the actual size? The reason I'm asking is because I don't have a FFR. I have an EM with a big block and like most big blocks, it tends to run on the hot side. A larger radiator (28" x 19") is a plus.

I assume it is 2 core, but do you know what the tube size is (1" or 1.25"). Also, will you be ordering these with the filler neck or use a purge fitting in it's place?

Sorry for all the questions.

The will have 1 1/4 tubes. I can have it set up with a purge fill. The dementions you mentioned will work for your car.

Wheels-

Gene (6T5 Cobra) has a 390 FE with a big cam, and I will be running a monster bored/stroked 460. This radiator will cool both.

Use an aftermarket purge tank. They are available from a $10 one from Pep Boys to a $70 aluminum one from summit.

I would like to know if anyone has one of these radiators installed and if it has been compared to others. Heres why I hesitate to jump aboard, even though I am in the market for one. It has been my experience with dual electric fans that they dont need to be so shrouded, and when the fan isnt running, which should be almost never, this much restriction of airflow should make the motor run hotter. I say lose the shroud and it should be fine. my 408 only needs the fans if I am dead stopped for more that 4-5 minutes. this is in southern california in the summer. anyone interested can get me to e-mail a pic of my rad/fan setup. maybe they can make me one without the shroud and I can set up the fans myself. If so, I would be glad to add my name to the list and get one if the price get down to the 10 order level.

You guys that are worried about too much shrouding should check this fan out. This is what I am going with.

These fans have their own shrouding and if you look closely, you can see 'rubber flaps' along the top and bottom of the shroud. The flaps open from forced air during cruise and close from fan suction when idling. It's made by Spal and puts out 2780 cfm. Runs about $280 plus another $50 or so for the thermostat/relay kit.

That spal setup is an interesting idea,I like it a lot. However, I own a 56 ford truck that has a 351/408 motor,(492 H.P.) AOD trans, 9" 4;11 Diff. The dual fans were installed by me,(they are from Scotts Fans in Valencia, Calif.)I used 1' wide aluminum flat stock to make mounting brackets, so they get a lot of air past them on all sides, suck very well through the radiator when they are running, and were tested in Havasu City AZ. earlier this year. This included a drive across the desert to and from Arizona. This is with an aluminum cross-flow radiator. The motor never gets hot, and I never add water even though it has no overflow bottle. If the fans are good ones, the shroud just isnt nessesary. ship my radiator without any shroud. Did I mention that the truck has A.C. in front of the radiator? NO PROBLEMS!
