My GTM (#287) has a G50-03 transaxle with the factory LSD and everything is functionally fine - except it leaks fluid at an annoying rate (small puddle overnight). The leak is coming from where the middle and front transaxle sections join together. Because of the location of the leak I don't see any way to address it short of dissembling the transaxle and replacing the gaskets. This seems beyond my capabilities (I have not disassembled a transaxle before) but I am trying to avoid spending a ton of money.

I am getting ready for paint so now is the time...

It feels like a slippery slope between $150 for a gasket set and $10K+ for a rebuild with better gearing, etc.

Seeking the collective wisdom of the forum! Thoughts on whether I could do this myself or how to minimize the cost of repairing the leak?

I'm just finishing up this same problem with my g50/52. I talked to my local porsche dealer and the directed me to 2 different Porsche Racing shops. One of them has the transmission now, and is re-gasketing the whole thing for about $500.

I called a couple of places online looking before I settled on this company, and everyone else was north of $1000.

This company is in FLorida, so it would require you to ship it, if you wanted to use them. I get mine back tomorrow and can give you a report on it. But, so far, they're communicated very well with me, gave me a full evaluation of the transmission and pictures of their findings.

Please let me know how it goes! Shipping may be a bit costly but still much cheaper than a rebuild.

Just got my transmission back today, corona delays. Total cost for the inspection and reseal was $755. I spoke with him today and let him know you may be reaching out.

Great, thanks!

I found a local VW / Porsche transaxle shop that is quoting $700 labor so the decider may be the shipping costs.

I can't find anything online about Tucker Motorsports, i.e. no website etc., are they a Porsche specialist?
