Started go cart today first time in about 6 mounth gas old very hard to get running smelled like varnish when it tried to start. Ran bad after adding good gas what should I try to clean out the bad gas?

Yes, clean out the bad gas. What are you running for a fuel pump? Can you unhook a fuel line and use the pump to pump it out?
And then go to Autozone or another parts store and get a product called StaBil. It'll keep your gas from going bad while in storage. Besides Naga and my other fun cars, I use it in my generator and, during the off season, in my lawn mower too.
Had the same problem with my wife's Austin Healy after I restored it again. Just run the old gas out and burn it off if you can do so safely or take it to your recycler.
