I have two questions. Besides the cool factor do I gain anything using a fuel filter like the one pictured bellow over using something like a Fram or whatever I can pick up at my local parts store.

Second if I go with the cool one can I mount it in the engine bay to be seen and accessed easier.
Will that location have any adverse affects?

Thanks Mike

I am assuming you are using 302 motor and thus it does not need something that requires a high volume fuel pump. Use a stock Mustang filter (like a Fram) and don't put it in the engine area. Put it where the FFR manual says, above the rear axle. My feeling is, the fewer fuel line connections that can leak near something hot (like everything in the engine compartment) the better. Also, if something leaks, you want it outside and behind and below where YOU are sitting. The fuel filter is under pressure, so if you happen to decide to change it, you don't want it spewing fuel all over any hot headers.

Regards,
Bill

Thanks Bill
Yeah with the problems I have been having with other leaks I would have probably blown my self up tying that set up. Yes I'm going with a 302 EFI
AND A 195 FUEL PUMP.

Mike,
Where did you find that Edelbrock filter? I looked at their online catalog and couldn't find it. I have a 2002 paper catalog at home but don't recall seeing it before.

Frank it's on line at Summit Racing. It's cool huh...I like the fact that it has it's own bracket. Does anybody know if the Fram fuel filter filters down to 10 microns?

Mike,
I used to run a Fram HPG1 on my now departed drag car, but I don't recall the filtration level of the paper element. One thing I did like was the fact the you could actually change the filter element without drowning yourself in gasoline. The canister unscrews and if you don't get the shakes too bad you should be in good shape, although that canister is FULLLL to the tippy top. That alone is enough to make you start twitchin'.
You're right though, that Edelbrock piece is cool.
