I told Mike that I would post these for him. This is a "sandwich mount" oil thermostat that goes inbetween the filter and the block so that you do not have to use a remote mounted thermostat. Any questions should be directed to Mike Forte.

I may be picking one of these up myself when the time comes!

I'll be using one of these along with the remote filter mount. I know it will look a little goofy. But it will have fewer fittings that the "H" type thermostat.

What is that on the back side of thermostat?

That is the thermostat element.

PERFECT!! Just what I was looking for. I'm going with this plus the 90 deg adapter from FMS so the filter sits upright. Mike, I need these two goodies!!

Hi Guys,
I just got them in the other day. I think this will cure about $200.00 worth of hose and fittings. I'll only be until 11:00 Friday as I finally am getting a weekend with my children. Either E-mail me or call the store for questions.
Happy Holidays

Thanks Mike Rub it in

If you (I) went with the canton block adapter and their nice billet t-stat and all the fittings you would spend clost to $285.. I believe mikes unit eliminates all that for under $80!

Great, same boat here. Just got my shipment from Summit for $280 worth of hose, fittings, and a Perma Cool T-stat. I may be sending it back!

If you're using the remote filter adaptor that came with the FFR kit mounted to the front "X" member why not mount the t/stat to the filter adaptor and not to the block. This would keep the length of lines required to get to the oil cooler down to a minimum? If you're using braided lines this will save you a few bucks.

May be this is what you guys are doing but nobody actually said so.

Here's a technical question, which I'm sure others may be wondering, is the oil filtered before or after its sent to the cooler when the TStat is Open? I would guess before, but I'm not sure.

Mike, that is a GREAT idea. Not only are the lines shorter, but you only have 2 coming off the engine instead of 4. Much cleaner looking too. A win-win situation. Another reason/advantage of using the FFR supplied remote mount is the extra port for a oil temperature sensor without modifying the pan... nice plus too.

Mike that is what I am doing.. Not complete since car is still being painted but here is the logic..

canton part on the block with two hoses out and filter on it (4-4 headers)

two lines into canton t-stat mounted at location where the FFR relocator would have gone

two line out to FFR oil cooler..

all that was just over $276. Mikes unit eliminates the canton sandwich piece and t-stat and all the fittings.. both do the same but cost is a lot less...

Hi Guys,
I found this part at the PRI show a few weeks ago. It is very much like the Ford part that is discontinued. I really didn't get it to cause any headaches or unfinished cars. Brendan, the oil flow when hot would be cooled before the filter as I see it.
