Will an 8.8 from an Explorer work in the FFR? They already have 5 lug and disc brakes. Are the axle lengths different. I think I remember reading that the axles are 31 spline as one difference. Has anyone tried this? Thanks.

it is the same width, does have 11 inch discs, 31 spline axles, can be found easily in 3.55 and 3.73 ratios.

It does not have the UCA mounts cast in the housing nor does it have the LCA mounts welded on. You could do the three link but you would have to fab the lower mounts and upper mount.

What about using using the Explorer gears, axles and brakes with a Mustang housing?

I think the axles will work.I know the gears will,I have a set of 373's in my 95 Mustang rear that came out of an Expolder
