I'm sitting here fiddling around the shop...cleaning up misc. pieces of lumbar here and there, basically being a busy body occassionally looking at the first step...

BTW...Got my air riveter from Harbour Freight today...I need to check out our compressor, I have NO idea what it is set at. Instructions for the riveter call for the regulator to be set at 90 lbs...I presume that is the minimum pressure for the compressor tank? Also, all of our hoses in the shop have those nice quick release fittings...how the HECK do I connect up that riveter? I'm obviously missing an intermediate part! Also, tomorrow is 1/8" drill bit day! Got to go find a few of those little buggers!

Yep, most air tools do not come with the fittings... you need to pick up some screw-in male end quick connect fittings and install them in your riveter.

Use a 1.5" long piece of teflon sealing tape (be careful to wrap it the right way), and be careful when you buy the fittings - there are two kinds, one is "universal" and the other is an "automotive shop" style (has a wider sealing surface). Get the universal type. Home Depot has them, but they are 1/3 the price at Harbor Freight. Buy lots, you'll end up needing them!

Oh yeah - be sure to mark all the AL panel seam overlaps and frame tube locations before you remove the panels! And do all your frame updates/mods/painting before you pop the first rivet. You'll thank yourself later.

Say Neill, does your body have seams or not?
I read the transcript from the chat with David Smith and he said that the bodies that are shipping now don't have seams. Can anyone confirm?

LOL...well...just spent the last 2 or 3 days removing and LABELING all the panels...did not trace them...

Oh well.



I think for the first few pieces, I'll be using the Cleco kit that I got to make sure it lines up nicely and securely before I let one of those rivets POP!

The bodies look the same on top, but it you look under it has no seems. This means you won't get the heat lines or have to grind down as much. But pictures won't help show the new body. But wait, there's more.... FFR has more body news coming soon.

what up bud? dont have those F's on yet? What are you waiting for? make sure you get them polished or powder coated prior to putting them on. also, make sure you have some silicon handy!!! you should be able to do the footboxes for the passenger and about 50% of the driver footbox as well. i'll put some of my latest pics up tomorrow.

p.s. i had troubles make the first drill'n too! after the first one, it's all down hill after that. just dont forget the silicon!!!!!!!! (like I did and had to spend twice as much time shooting silicon in between)

Your new style body should be easier to paint. I talked to Dave Smith and he said the new molds allow for less work.
