I had my fist gocart ride to day,air temp 86'. The engine started missing at about 5000 rpm, temp. ran up to 223', might need a lower thermostat,also oil leak at rear of pan, at rear main loop gasket. Need any suggestions. I am 62 yeras old, the car is everything I thought it would be and more,I still love the rush of speed,as I did, when I was 20. The car took about a year to build.

Congrats on the ride. The over heating maybe caused by air in the system.

To answer Orange Crush, 94 302 HO,stock radiator,shroud,fan controlled by computer,and don't know what temp. thermostat. I have burped the system twice. Any more thoughts would be appreciated. Fred Engler

Make sure you have the belt on right. If you spin the water pump the wrong way it won't work right. Just a thought.

Sounds identical to my first go-cart ride this weekend. Temp 210 and minor oil drip after running from rear of motor. I am hoping that a tightening of the oil pan bolts will do the trick but we'll see. Engine isn't tuned perfectly, but it's still a lot of fun and nothing like anything I've had before.
