They are impossible to put in. I've seriously hurt my hands two nights in a row and havn't gotten ANY of them in. What the hell is the secret? I've tried dish soap, but the holes are WAY too small and don't seem to be the right shape for these things at all.

Help? I'm very frustrated.

Well, almost removed a fingernail... and got 1 in. It doesn't even fit right. It's all puckered on the front because the center width of the grommet is not anywhere close to the thickness of the pedal material.

I'm going to Ace in the morning to get something, ANYTHING less frustrating than these.

By the way, I still love Finishline! It's just embarassing to be defeated for hours by some grommetts.

Once you get them in run a small screwdriver or dowel through and around the inside. This seats the gromets in and removes the pucker.
It took me awhile to install them but once in they fit nicely.

Don't know why so many people have had such a hard time with this. Simply spray with WD40 and push them in with a screwdriver. With the WD40 they should pop right in. Then as someone said stick something through the hole (I used a philips head screwdriver) and run it around the inside to seat the grommet. I have done 4 pedals and installed and removed them numerous times this way.

Note it won't seat completely flat unless you do some machining as Russ said. What I have found though is even without any machining once the pedals are in you can't tell that the grommets don't sit perfectly flat unless you put your head in the footbox to check them and they work fine.

I simply used a common screw driver. The rubber is tough so don't worry about cutting it. Get the grommet started with one side starting to go in. Then take the common screw driver and push the other side in. They went in relatively easy this way, with no lubing. I even put two in while the pedal was already installed in the car.

Good luck,

I went the same as wade and Duane but wore a heavy Leather Glove to save my hands.. The lube and stuff just makes things slip around.. take your time and the rubber slips into place...

Over a period of time we now, upon drilling/reaming the back to make them fit snug on the pedal assemblies, also ream and chamfer (with an oversize drill bit)the edges on each face edge, put the gromments in hot water to make em a little more pliable and they seem to pop right in, then run/rotate a phillips head screwdriver (same dia as grommet hole) thru them to seat them. Haven't had any problems this way and it's quiet easy.
