My lower A arm appears that it is threaded but the ball joint that screws into the upper A arm does not fit. Are the lower A arms threaded? I purchased a Mustaing ball joint and it does not have threads and it looks like it is too big to fit. Any help is appreciated.

I'm assuming you're using the FFR lower control arms? If so, yes the ball joint is threaded onto the lower, just like the upper was. FFR should have given you the correct ball joints to thread onto the lowers. If they did not you are missing parts and you should call them.

Note that you've really got to sock down the ball joints on the threads. I had one coming loose after 3000 miles, and my eye happened to catch the extra threads showing while maintaining the car!

Snakeboy,
Mustang ball joints won't work. The supplied ball joints are Chrysler part numbers, they should have been in the kit.

Thanks for your reply! I called FFR and they said that they changed to pressed in ball joints a couple of months ago and that they do not have any of the old threaded ones so it looks like I will have to go to the autoparts store and buy some new ones. Does anybody know what the part number is? FFR said that they would get back to me with the part number later but who knows when that will be.

I guess it would be too much to hope for, changing the lower arm and utilizing a Ford ball joint, all in one fell swoop. Good luck!

Snake Boy,
I had the exact same problem that your having. From what Joe told me someone is making the pressed in ball joints just for FFR. I find that hard to believe but at home I do have a box with the part number on it. Hopefully, I'll remember to look for it and I'll post it for you.
Regards,
KJ
